(Specifically meant for consulting type industries...at additional cost!)
If you run/work as a consulting based business, billing based on hours put into a job, and getting paid for hours put into a job - this software sounds like a perfect fit. It's not.
The Pros:
The base QB software has an appealing layout and is easy to use.
Set-up is time consuming, but easy. (What I would expect from a software that tracks and links so much information.)
The Cons:
The "Time Tracking/Billing" functions are poorly integrated. Commands to access time based items are clumsy, and separate from the way it's done for the rest of the program. Choices for how to handle the data is limited as well.
Creating an invoice based on time does work. However, there is no link/data to later show the time billed landed on Invoice #xxx, or how much of which employee(s) time went to Invoice #xxx.
My company bills based on the hours put into a job. Once the invoice has been paid by the client, THEN we get paid...also based on the number of hours that we contributed towards that invoice.
Since you can't track which hours went to which invoice, you also can't issue checks based on specific time contributions.
(You CAN write a check based on time periods. Meaning, a week or two at a time. But you can not filter by client, job, or invoice. So, if you worked on 6 jobs, for 6 different clients...you would have to pay yourself for all six of them, even if the clients hadn't been billed yet.)
The Bottom Line:
If you are a consulting type company who bills and gets paid based on hours contributed...this software is NOT ready for you.
For now, I'm returning my copy. I hope they enhance the time functionality, and I hope they integrate it MUCH better as well. If they do, I will try it again.
