(More customer reviews)Bitdefender 9 Professional Plus is a decent product. I've used it for about a week now and have not experienced any difficulty beyond learning about it.
Reviews by major computer magazines give this product a very favorable rating - that was my motivator for switching from my previous anti-virus software when renewal time came around.
It has yet to detect a virus - I've been lucky. In independent tests it was as good as or better than competitors so I believe that it will go fine. It has an automatic update feature that works - I've noticed that it regularly calls home.
The firewall is working. At first you have to let it know that it is OK for your usual programs, like your browser, to access the Internet. It appears to have already blocked some intrusion attempts.
I like the sp+am filter for my e-mail. I've never used one that I could manage to set to throw out the spam. This one does throw out spam so I'm not stuck with 10 or 20 spams each time I check my mail. That save me time. It has not thrown out any messages that were really for me.
I looked over BitDefender's Internet site - always a good idea - and it was quite OK. To me, a user friendly Internet site is an indicator of a good operation. Go see for yourself.
The screen that comes up when one wants to check things is relatively easy to understand - it doesn't get too technical too quick. Its not a perfect design; then I'm not a perfect user.
Now it is up to you to decide whether this product or another will protect you and your computer. Do have anti-virus and a firewall to save yourself - most brands work - without these defenses you will have serious problems at some point in the future.
