(More customer reviews)I have been using this for about a year now. I find it very useful. I have solved many of the problems I was having. I have upgraded the software to 5 stars. The software can do many things that MS office can but for a fraction of the price. The only drawback is that this software is not fully compatible with Microsoft office files, this is not 100% correct, as I have had to use the machines with Microsoft Excel at work in order to work with some of the files generated by my job in Excel 2003, these files are required to do my job, so there was a huge disappointment there, as I thought I could do this work at home if I purchased this software. Furthermore, the presentations created in this software are not readable by Powerpoint, as previously thought. So, there are some inconsistencies with the description and the software. I also use Open Office a free software, and find that Open office can do more than this software in terms of compatibility with MS Office. If you like Wordperfect, and have used it through the years, you will love this, if not, then you may not like it at all. I personally have been a Wordperfect user since the early to mid 70's with the blue screen dos version. Anyone remember that one? OK, I am old, and certainly dating myself here. But, Wordperfect is solid software and always has been.

Microsoft Office Small Business 2003 Review

(More customer reviews)You need to get out more. Just the fact that you are looking at this page and are thinking of upgrading your Microsoft Office makes it clear that you have a problem. Don't believe the Microsoft advertisement featuring dinosaurs to announce "Microsoft Office Has Evolved." It hasn't. This is a mature product. It doesn't matter if you use Office 1997, 2000 or 2003. They are all the same. The good, the bad and the ugly. It is all still here. Maybe a few bugs have been fixed. Most haven't, and ther are always new bugs. If Microsoft took the time to really improve the software, that would be one thing. But they don't.
Here is an example. You are in Outlook. You call up a contact and want to send that person a letter. You need to print an envelope, but there is no command to do so. There is no button to click. You can't right click anywhere to print an envelope. I am not making this up. Outlook has been out for almost ten years and multiple upgrades, and Microsoft still hasn't gotten around to implementing functionality to print a single envelope. Your only option (the on-line support confirms this) is to perform a mail merge. This is an elaborate process that is designed for printing thousands of envelopes for a bulk mailing. It involves opening multiple windows and setting all sorts of settings. You have to go through the ENTIRE PROCESS just to print a single envelope! What is more, the mail merge feature has bugs in it. It leaves blank lines in addresses that look atrocious, and it drops country names from addresses. It gives you options as to how you want country names treaed in addresses, but these all do nothing. Whatever option you select, Outlook leaves countries out of addresses when it prints envelopes.
I could go on, but I won't. If you are using Office 2000 or even Office 1997, you aren't missing out on anything. There is absolutely no reason to shell out $300 for new software that does all the same things in all the same ways with mostly the same bugs.

WordPerfect Office 11 Review

(More customer reviews)I own both Wordperfect 9 and 11 and find that 9 is superior. Apparently in Wordperfect 11, Corel revamped the way the software interfaces with printers so all of the features of my printer (a new model Hewlet Packard Laserjet) do not work without going through several steps in the page setup. Further, Wordperfect 11 freezes up if one uses the latest printer drivers and only works with older versions of drivers. Plus, I bought the product with the understanding that it automatically converts batches of old wordperfect files. I have many documents in wordperfect 4.2 and 5.1. However, Wordperfect 11 does not convert batches of old files in 4.2 and 5.1. Other than above, the software is fine but you may as well stick to version 9 which is fabulous.

I am guessing they meant to put (OEM Version) on the description. I had every reason to expect I was buying a retail package. This software transaction was illegal.

(More customer reviews)word perfect is an excellent word processor that many including myself consider superior, more powerful and easy to use than Word. However the "Home and Student" version is sold without any notice that it does not include all the features that are advertised. True there is a Acrobat file hidden at the WP website that compares the versions but if you don't happen to see that you will find that you have bought a program that will NOT open .pdf files, will not save .pdf files, does not save in the latest Word format. There are probably other "missing" features as well. It doesn't say that anywhere on the box and in fact as you install the program you are told about all the features the new program has- which IN FACT it does not have! For those who purchase the program with the new features in mind you can call the company about it and they will tell you to get lost. This is unworthy of the reputation Word perfect has for those like me who have used the program since its earliest DOS incarnations.

Corel Family Pack 2009 Review

(More customer reviews)I put out a newsletter for our non profit club and publish a few obscure local history books.
As a 20 year wordperfect (WP) user who has purchased previous versions of Word Perfect, I am really disapointed by the simplest of things. After running a computer with Win98SE and Word Perfect 6 and then going to a newer OS Win2000 and getting a Family pack that included Word Perfect 11. Now I am running Vista 64 and I find my previous versions of Word perfect can not be upgraded to run with Vista.
Fine I ain't so cheap that I can not buy a few new software products for my new computer.... so I buy the latest Family Pack with Word Perfect X4, and by Corels own product description, I expected it to be at least as functonal as the old WP11. But Corel is killing me, just to force users to buy a premium X4 version, this one does not come with a PDF converter, which all my old WP versions have. I can not throw away my old computer because I have to load my WP X4 files onto WP11 which will not run on my new computer. WP11 changes the format of the file, the number of sentences per page, etc... which throws off the formatting and alignment of my pictures and articles. So I have to realign everything and convert it using WP11 to make my final PDF file. It is almost less bother to do everything on the old computer as any editing would then need to be done on the old computer also. Thanks Corel, my gift to you is this loving review. The new program runs faster on the new computer but since I farm out my publishing, editing, and product, I need the PDF capability. Corel has made the program worthless to me by one stupid, greedy, basic function omission.
In the past, it has not been important to me that my friends and associates, and publisher did not use WP as I could easily generate a PDF to share. In a world full of software users provided for mainly by Gates Inc, Corel should know that if they disable their users ability to share files with most of the world their product is basically useless.
I would appreciate if anyone knows of a way short of buying Adobe Acrobat or the Word Perfect upgrade that will convert these files to PDF without messing up the format.
I can not find any low cost PDF converter that both works with Word Perfect X4 and that does not put an advertising logo on each page. I would not be half so mad about this if Corel would at least have let a buyer know ahead of time that they had removed the PDF converter from their low end X4 version. The dark side is so strong and calling, I am about ready to throw in the towel and use the free MS Word that is already on the new computer.
I guess if you need a word processor, without the ability to share files this program will be "perfect" for you.

(More customer reviews)The beta version arrived at my house, was installed, and had lots of bells and whistles. Fancy colors, buttons, etc. However, I am not sure that the changes are worth the kind of cash proposed by Microsoft's suggested retail price. Word, Access and Excel are basically the same programs as XP, Powerpoint has a few nicer features (it always has had nice features), and Outlook does have some data management not previously available. As a small business operator, I have found it much easier to track business contacts, emails, etc. I also have a FrontPage designed website. The new FrontPage has a nifty "split" screen which allows you to look at your HTML coding along with the actual published page, both at the same time. The new FrontPage also makes general HTML tagging, coding, and changing much more user friendly. However, it suffers from the traditional Microsoft misery; namely, the online help is virtually useless. This is also true for Publisher. You will spend lots of frustrating moments with both of those programs.
