(More customer reviews)I wanted to backup to a local ESATA drive. I have about 500G of data, mostly HD videos from my camcorder. Using online backup for that would be a pain.
I've used three different backup solutions in the recent past (Novastor is the latest). This one is the simplest and the best for local backup. There's not much to configure: What do you want to backup and where do you want it. It took over a day to backup the 500GB even over ESATA (Note to self: get a 7200RPM local drive for faster backup instead of the 5400RPM). It continually backs up the data and I've noticed no performance impact on my PC.
A PCWorld review indicates that you have to monitor the backup disk to ensure it has enough space. So far, that's not a problem for me.
Thankfully, I've not had to restore the complete PC yet, but being able to browse the backup repositories and see the different versions of each file that has changed is reassuring. I can restore single files easily. I am partly going by faith here since I didn't test the full system restore, but so far, I am very pleased with the ease of use.
