(More customer reviews)I have been using Freeway for web designs for five years. This is the best web application for a Mac, bar none. There is nothing it can't do, and hand you back change too. I have no idea how to code HTML, but Freeway allows me to build a website according to my own ideas very quickly. Freeway writes the code for me. And it just keeps on getting better. There is now so much depth to the application, it reminds me of Photoshop or Final Cut Pro.
Want to use a Quicktime file? No problem. Just drop it in from your hard drive, position and size it as you want to, and if necessary, change how it's being displayed. It will take you about five minutes. Really. Then review your work with a click of the mouse.
Want to add text, graphics, links, forms, tables, a picture gallery, downloads, or do anything you see on this Amazon page? Done. All without you knowing any HTML code at all. If you want to use code for something, you can do that too.
The application comes with a nice user tutorial called "Using Freeway 5". It's a very good start, but that's all it is - a start. To really dig into what Freeway 5 can do, go for the $20 Reference Manual, which can be download in pdf. form. It's huge - 488 pages long. but it's well laid out, and easy to use. Sooner or later, you might want to print it out.
Support is maybe the best on the internet. They will reply to emails within two days - usually one. But because they are located in England, they are probably sleeping if you send something during the day from this side of the pond (California).
Iif you haven't ever used Freeway before, get the Express. It's a cheap way in, and you will begin to understand why this app gets a five star rating. Of course, the Express doesn't offer as much as the full application. The text and color style management is limited, as is the CSS layout. Some graphics and text options, such as padding, wrap and border choices aren't as open. But you will get an excellent idea of how enjoyable and easy Freeway is.
But be careful - it's way too much fun to use, and you might well find yourself so engrossed in what you can do that you can't pull yourself away. I know that one well.
MacWorld awarded it First Place for Creative Web Product of the Year, 2008.
