(More customer reviews)I was very happy to see this special offer for teachers, which gave me Photoshop and Acrobat Professional for a good price. The registration and installation on my new 64-bit Windows 7 system went well. However, there is one major problem with this version of Acrobat Professional that I wasn't aware of (and this is a general Acrobat Professional problem, not a specific problem of this package for teachers): The integration with MS Office 2010 is limited to simple "printing" into a PDF file. In the older MS Office 2007, Acrobat installs its own menu in Word and other programs, which lets you optimize a lot of settings for the compression of images in the PDF file, the embedding of fonts, etc., and you can decide if you want to generate a fully functional PDF file with working links to web pages etc. or a simple version. In Office 2010 you get no such Adobe menu - all you can do is select "Adobe PDF" as output device in the Print menu. Also the Acrobat program itself (when running in its own window like the free Acrobat Reader) does not permit to import an MS Word file and convert it into PDF with more options. In other words, the PDF conversion functionality on a PC with MS Office 2010 is reduced to the basic things that some freeware tools can do as well. According to Adobe, this will probably not change before the next release of a completely new version of Acrobat, i.e. we will have to pay again. This is a poor concept. I understand that it may be difficult and time-consuming to adapt the Adobe software to a new version of MS Office, and I would accept limited functionalities for a while if there was another way of converting MS Office documents into PDF files, outside of MS Office, or if there were plans for a free update in the near future. But apparently there are no such plans, and the only workaround for making fully functional PDF files seems to be to transfer the Office files to an older PC and convert them there. If you can wait, better save your money for the next version of this software package before you waste it for this outdated, functionality-limited and support-limited version.
