(More customer reviews)I was very happy to see this special offer for teachers, which gave me Photoshop and Acrobat Professional for a good price. The registration and installation on my new 64-bit Windows 7 system went well. However, there is one major problem with this version of Acrobat Professional that I wasn't aware of (and this is a general Acrobat Professional problem, not a specific problem of this package for teachers): The integration with MS Office 2010 is limited to simple "printing" into a PDF file. In the older MS Office 2007, Acrobat installs its own menu in Word and other programs, which lets you optimize a lot of settings for the compression of images in the PDF file, the embedding of fonts, etc., and you can decide if you want to generate a fully functional PDF file with working links to web pages etc. or a simple version. In Office 2010 you get no such Adobe menu - all you can do is select "Adobe PDF" as output device in the Print menu. Also the Acrobat program itself (when running in its own window like the free Acrobat Reader) does not permit to import an MS Word file and convert it into PDF with more options. In other words, the PDF conversion functionality on a PC with MS Office 2010 is reduced to the basic things that some freeware tools can do as well. According to Adobe, this will probably not change before the next release of a completely new version of Acrobat, i.e. we will have to pay again. This is a poor concept. I understand that it may be difficult and time-consuming to adapt the Adobe software to a new version of MS Office, and I would accept limited functionalities for a while if there was another way of converting MS Office documents into PDF files, outside of MS Office, or if there were plans for a free update in the near future. But apparently there are no such plans, and the only workaround for making fully functional PDF files seems to be to transfer the Office files to an older PC and convert them there. If you can wait, better save your money for the next version of this software package before you waste it for this outdated, functionality-limited and support-limited version.

(More customer reviews)I've owned the past versions of Adobe's Creative Suite and will say that I am in love with this product. I originally purchased it for my Windows, but found that the Mac version works much better and was practically made for my iMac (my Windows version is currently for sale, if interested.) I mainly use the Master Collection for inDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator and am constantly amazed. Hopefully, Adobe won't release a fifth version any time soon, but if they do I will definitely be looking forward to it!!

(More customer reviews)I am utilizing this product at a small (5-person) non-profit company. And, while this may be a significant cost upfront, we are already seeing the return. I've taken two online courses through our local community college which were helpful for me to brush up my skills. InDesign and Dreamweaver are the two software I use most. Great service and delivery, and nice to see a bit of a reduced cost as this software is typically not discounted.

(More customer reviews)Like all new software releases, the new release is often times the best ever. That's also the case with Adobe's CS5. What Adobe did was take the best suite for photographers, web designers, developers and pretty much anyone in IT or technology, and make it better. Unlike other manufacturers, Adobe did not see the need to completely redesign near perfect software, but rather keep the design and layout we have grown accustomed too and added lots of new features and capabilities. In CS5 the varios parts of the suite also work better together, something Adobe did a great job on with CS4; so PhotoShop works better with Illustrator in CS5 for example, and so on, a must have for those that work with workflows or take full advantage of the suite.
As far as the Design Premium Suite goes, it'll work for most that need it for building really nice websites or marketing like material, or even photographers. If you really need to work with sound as well, than I would suggest the Master Collection. I chose Design Premium over Web Premium because it ships with InDesign rather than Contribute. InDesign retails for about 700 dollars VS Contribute's 200 dollars. I also feel that a knowledgable web developer can do most of what Contribute could do without it, but that's just my opinion. Both premium versions shipnwith PhotoShopnExtended, which is amazing!!
I do love Adobe and the software, and I really thank Adobe for their significant discount to students; however, just some comments on the student registration process. For one, DO NOT buy the student version unless you have a student ID and one other proof (like a school bill or schedule); if you happen to not have a student ID, a state ID and two proofs would work. One has to answer a few questions and submit these documents on a website, email or fax in order to get the product key from Adobe. Adobe claims it takes two business days to get the product key, but it took mine three days. It's not really a problem, since the software comes with a 30 day trial; however, the process isn't what one would expect from such a major technology company that prides itself in amazing web development. If Adobe does not take your documentation or demands more information, you will have 30 days, after which the unique number that ships with your software becomes invalid (so you'll loose the money you paid). ...so don't buy the student version unless you can come up with proof that you really are a student.

Adobe Audition CS5.5 Upgrade Review

(More customer reviews)This review will not be a complete review of the product, just pointing out a few things I don't like as a user of Audition 2.0/3.0 (and Cooledit).
1) CS5.5 removed 'Generate signal' functions, so you can't generate white noise, tones like in Audition 3.0 and before. This is a very useful feature for engineering work.
2) Space bar play and pause as before, but would not rewind to the previous starting position. This is inconvenient when you want to loop a selection.
Will update when I use it more.

You can't know if you're eligible until you open the package and run your information through Adobe.
From the box:
"STOP! Before installing this product, you must obtain a Student and Teacher Edition serial number by following the instructions enclosed."
Seems harmless enough...
Where are those instructions you ask? In the box, wrapped in plastic.
What are those instructions? Go online, use the serial number (in the plastic wrapped box), and take photos of your student ID, provide billing info, and/or email address.
None of this information is on the outside of the box OR on this Amazon desc. page.
So of course you have to open the box. Which makes it, according to Amazon, ineligible for return???
I bought this as an honest, adult student--but now I feel like I'm not enough of a student? And I won't know if I'm student-enough for another 2+ business days.
I'm so disappointed in Amazon right now...

(More customer reviews)I've used Photoshop, Dreamweaver and InDesign from CS5 so I can only comment on those. Photoshop seems to have no bugs so far but it's a LOT slower than CS3 and NO, it's NOT my computer. InDesign is the only one that seems fine so far. Dreamweaver, on the other hand, is so UNBELIEVABLY RIDDLED with bugs it's despicable that Adobe released this version. This is PERFECT example of why so many people get Adobe software ILLEGALY... the crap they produce then charge an arm and a leg for is NOT WORTH IT. And for all you apologists who say that's stealing, fine, but what do you call it when you pay over $2000 for a software package and one of the main pieces of software is barely usable because of the bugs in it? To me that's Adobe STEALING from consumers. I'm going back to CS3 thank you very much.
