(More customer reviews)I'll save writing a huge review here and refer people to look at the reviews for this in the Xbox 360 version. If a console version of a game is bad, then the ported-to-PC version will likely be as bad and sometimes even worse.
Now, usually, I try to play a game all the way through before writing a review, no matter how much of a turkey it is. (See my Duke Nukem Review)... All in hopes that maybe, just maybe, it would get better near the end... But in this case, I just COULD NOT finish the game... The dialog sounded like it was written by a home-schooled 12 year old that just discovered how to cuss. The controls, Keyboard, mouse, AND 360 controller were complete B.S... The textures on everything from the ground to the guns was horrible. They spent more time texture mapping all the de-badged GMC and Chevy vehicles in this game than anything else (Don't even get me started on the vehicle controls and clipping issues). Just as a reference, there is a Beretta 92fs inox pistol in this game and it does not even have a texture map... They look like the "chrome" gun textures out of an old N64 game for the most part.
As for story and characters.... Nope! Michael bay characters are more fleshed out than this... That is pretty bad on its own. There were moments when my buddy had to face palm at the whole "Vato, Homie, essay" Mexican stereotypes. I'm a fan of fun stereotypes but, my gawd, this game just over-does them to painful proportions.
This is on a computer that has no problem playing just about every recent game out at max settings... A quad core 3.0ghz Intel chip (sometimes overclocked to 3.6ghz if needed), with an evga 790i ftw digital motherboard and a 460GTX Nvidia card running graphics and an Nvidia 9800gtx+ handling physics. Vista x64, 16gb of DDR3 1600 ram.
As for this being a Call of Juarez game... NOPE... This has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PREVIOUS GAMES. Zip, zilch, nada, no deal. Though one of the characters wears a cowboy hat... Maybe the game should have been called "That Old Hat From The Other Call Of Juarez Game." Maybe there was something tying it in past the halfway point, but I doubt it, as I just couldn't stand this game any more.
So after buying this, under the impression it would be like the last games... I installed it, then played it for a few hours, then uninstalled it and took it back to Game Stop where I argued with a manager for 30 minutes to get my money back. "And game companies wonder why piracy is on the rise..." Mmm sarcasm... >.<
I really have to stop buying games new and should just wait for the reviews to come out before wasting my actual money.
Bottom line:
Rent it on a console if you are a glutton for punishment.
