Norton Antivirus Gaming Edition 2009
The Norton Antivirus Gamer Edition offers the same protection as the regular version of Antivirus, it just runs quieter. What I mean by quiet is that you hardly even notice that it's there, something that all antivirus programs should do. During normal operation, NAV (Norton Anti Virus) will have pop ups informing me of scheduled scans and updates.
The beauty of this software is that it will not interrupt you at all with this information while a game is loaded. Take note, from what I have observed the program recognizes a game by the game being in full screen mod, you will still get the popup if the game is played in window mode.
The software is customizable a little bit up to the point to where you can tell the software to completely turn off if you are gaming, but that's not recommended. Symantec has really stepped up their game with all of their new products by offering great security for your computer without a big performance hit, something that Symantec always struggled with. This is no longer the case and with the gamer edition it's even more impressive. I checked my task manager to see how ram NAV was using. When idle with just protecting my system, it used around 3 Megs, during a full scan, it never went over 7 Megs and if I loaded a game like World of Warcraft during a scan, the scan would pause itself and continue after I stop playing.
Overall, this is the security software for gamers that works exactly how it's advertised. If you mostly use your computer for gaming, I would suggest this software. I would even suggest this software to a none gamer that uses a laptop.
