(More customer reviews)Recently I just brought a brand new PC from Dell for my office, then I started to realize how am I suppost to move all my important datas: example my applications, old-e-mails, company's files, all my unique window and desktop settings, plus my 15 gig of mp3s and mpegs..... you know all the important stuffs. After I did a some detail research and from friends recommendation. I finally brought this PCReloctator 4.0. I was very happy from the result of moving everything from my old PC to my new PC with this wonderful software. Since I am a computer idiot and I hate to read menu so I usually call customer support and let them walk me though how to set everything up from scratch (They have free tech. support anyway). Surprisingly, unlike our customer support from other software Company, the PCRelocator support guy was so polite and patient, he walked me thought everysteps to setup the old and new PC and started the migration. About 5 hours later, my new DellPCc restart and reboot itself, and after I re-log on my new PC, the wall paper, all the desktop setting are 100% identical with my old PC, then I check my applications and files, mp3s, mpegs, they are all saved at the exact same locations and folder as in my old pc. I was so excited this software do the transfter seamlessly. The next day, I even received a phone call from the PCR support guy I spoke with, he was checking and see if everything was OK with the software and asked for any other questions or additional help I might have with their software. Man, that Is what call "100% Customer Satisfactory". Again, I am very happy with PCRelocator4.0, it really worth every single penny I payed for it. I recommend it to all of you and for sure, I will buy it again when I buy new PC again in the future.

Pc Works Suite Pro V.2 Review

(I bought this on newegg for $29.99).Note 1:
About 7 of the 25 apps have serial numbers involved with their installation (AKA "manual intervention" for the person installing the software)
A small sheet of paper with application names + serial numbers is included INSIDE the DVD clam shell case.Note2:

All software seems to be usable until YOU decided to upgrade to a later version, EXCEPT for
LapLink Everywhere. It comes with a one year subscription.Note4: Problems.
The only app I had problems with was the Orgchart standard edition.
For some reason they put the Pro version on the DVD instead of the standard.
The ultimate problem was that they did not list/include a serial number for the pro version.
You launch the program and you need to manually insert a serial # , before the program will launch.
So I can't use the program at this point in time.
(I placed a email help request to the Orgchart company and am awaiting a response.
There seems to be 2 options for them:
- Will they give me a serial number for the pro version?
- Or a download link for the standard version that is listed on the covers of this DVD install disc.

Orgchart application installation problem solved.
While waiting for an email response from Orgchart's tech support, I went digging thru the sub-directories on the DVD.
I found 2 serial number directories. Within one of the two directories was some executable files that launched a pop-up which listed the serial number for the Orgchart program.
What is really annoying about this particular app is that Orgchart creators decided to name this ORGCHART "Professional - Standard"
Huh?
Normal software applications are named in a sequence, based upon how many features are included within each application level, such as:
1. Basic
2. Standard
3. Professional
4. Premium
5. Platinum * [*not used a lot, but seems to imply that is contains
everything "but-the-kitchen-sink" ]
The end result is that I have the Orgchart Pro standard edition installed and working.
The help screen displays this info:
Orgchart Professional 4.0.1 Standard edition 100
Another field on that help screen says it is good for up to 100 employees.
If you go to their website, you will see the Pro version broken down into versions based upon the number of employees you'd be using this application for.
A better, less confusing way of describing the PRO version would have been to use those break points as the version descriptions, such as:
OrgChart Pro 100
OrgChart Pro 250
OrgChart Pro 500
OrgChart Pro 750
OrgChart Pro 1000
Note 5:
This is an OEM package for "system builders".
Meaning, you (the PC builder) should be in the biz of building/selling computers to end users; to actually use this software pkg.
Installing this software is easy enough, if you have a buyer lined up and you know some of their basic data:
- his/her name, address, email and such.
I say this because you have to fill in all the usual fields during setup/registration of each of these programs.
Unfortunately for the end user, it is easier for the system builder to just throw in the software DVD and let the end user just install the 25 applications by themselves, after they get the PC from you.
They can fill out the address forms, check the email for registration response, and such.Final note:
IMHO this is a very useful bundle of 25 applications.
There was not any "filler" or "junk" programs added to the bundle (just to make the number of applications on the DVD appear high).

Laplink PC Mover Moving Kit Review

(More customer reviews)We recently had to upgrade the main computer used by our family, and I was dreading it. We have several user accounts, with hundreds of gigs of data and more applications installed than I can count (many of which were installed so long ago that I'm not even sure that we still have the media.)
Besides that, the new computer came with Vista, so we we were doing an upgrade from XP at the same time (note: if you're using Vista make sure to get the newly-released version of PCmover so that it supports it.)
I was completely impressed by the way that this utility handled the transfer. It was simple to use, and went without a hitch. There were only handful of programs that needed minor tweaking afterwards because either their licensing or their configurations depended on the specific system - all of these were ironed out quickly and everything is running beautifully.
A recommendation... I would recommend "grooming" the old computer a bit before the move: 1) uninstall any applications and remove any data that you don't want moved, since you can't pick and chose during the move. 2) If you're moving to a new OS, upgrade your applications on the old computer to the latest version beforehand. It's easier to handle this separately from any cleanup you may need after the move.

PCmover Ultimate Review

(More customer reviews)I am an IT professional and bought this product aware of the bad reviews but with the hope that I could transfer some programs from Windows XP to Windows 7. I did succeed in this modest objective but with so much difficulty that I would rate this as one of the worst software products I have ever encountered. The instructions are poor, there are many pitfalls, a transfer can take many,many hours, and the transfer often aborts arbitrarily and has to be completely redone.
If you are as foolish as I was and buy this product here are some lessons. First, following the instructions you must load the software on the new computer, then on the old computer, and get it going. At this point do NOT TOUCH either machine. If you touch any key it will hang the transfer. I also discovered that any automatic process (like virus scanning, software updates, backups, screen savers, power saving mode) will also hang it. Make sure you disable all of these before you begin.
Next, you can get Windows 7 to network with Windows XP however this software will not see both machines. Do not use the network transfer method - the only thing that works is the special USB transfer cable.
I naively tried to transfer everything at first. It predicted 22 hours for the transfer so I set it going, later went to bed, went to work the next day, came home to find it had hung up about 15 hours into the process. Tried again, same thing. The only way I could ever get any success is by doing relatively small moves at a time; some data files, then music, then pictures, then two or three application programs. About half of these small moves (which take about 1- 2 hours) succeeded the first time, and about half had to be redone.
Finally, when it fails and you restart it will ask you to resume the old transfer or to undo the old transfer. Do NOT undo the old transfer - it will erase everything. Always select restart - even if you are transferring files you had not tried to transfer previously.
