(More customer reviews)Although the Monitor calibration works great (Spyder & OptiCAL), I did not receive the ProfilerPLUS printer profiling software. Instead, the package I received included PhotoCal, which I believe is a subset of OptiCAL. When I brought this to the attention of Amazon, they offered me a 10% credit ($26) to live without ProfilerPlus, an application that Amazon sells separately for $100. I'm not sure if this was just a one-time mistake or an error with this listing, but amazon wasn't much help in clearing this up.

IMSI TURBOCAD 9 PROFESSIONAL Review

(More customer reviews)I am not in any way involved with TurboCAD/IMSI, but I do feel it is a quality product that offers similar functionality to that of AutoCAD. (I use both products)
If you are used to Autocad, then you will be surprised how much easier it will be to get things done in this. Just dont expect it to be a parametric modelling package - it is not. However, it is much easier to set up a 2D drawing in my opinion, and for me I find the standard drawing, dimensioning, measurement and layout to be quite intuitive.
While it doesnt offer the 3D modelling flexibility of the parametric modellers like Solidworks, Catia Pro/E etc, it is a great 2D/3D drawing package with many extras such as rendering, macro recorder, and usability enhancements such as single key input for many commands, saving overuse of the mouse.

Abbyy FineReader 5.0 Office OCR Review

(More customer reviews)I've been using Omni-10 and recently was about to remove the old Presto from my harddrive. However, I ran across the new ABBYY FineReader Office and gave it a try. For my money, it's a LOT better than Omni-10 (don't know about -11 except that it's costly).
FineReader doesn't have the text-to-voice of Omni, but I don't do any recognition of tables (where the feature is supposed to be valuable) anyway. FR's character recognition is superior, but the best feature is that it chooses a font size and kerning that really do an excellent job of reproducing the original (not choosing too-small font sizes with giant spaces, like Omni-10).
Overall, beats Omni-10 -- which in turn beats everything else!

Abbyy Fine Reader 5.0 Office is optical character recognition (OCR) software designed for work in the office. The Office version is specially designed for a network. Once installed on the server, it can be installed on workstations directly over the network. Images can be processed on several workstations simultaneously, allowing users to scan on one workstation and recognize them on another. With multiprocessing support, recognition speed is increased in direct proportion to the number of processors installed.
A built-in editor lets users edit the image layout manually. Edit recognized text while looking at an image of the source text in the Zoom window. The built-in spell checker will search text for misspelled words in mere seconds. Included with the Office version is the Formulator, which lets users fill in any form electronically. Just scan in a blank form and have it completely filled in onscreen and printed out in seconds.

In short : The sky is NOT the limit for Delphi !!!

(More customer reviews)update 9/29/04 - i just wanted to chime in regarding the 7.2 updater that was recently released. macromedia has done the right thing and released a massive and free update to the horrendous mx2004. though it speaks volumes about the initial release's quality when i say that despite hundreds of fixed bugs and performance enhancements, mx2400 is still a not very good. unless you desperately need a feature of mx2004, i would suggest waiting for the next release, which macromedia has promised will focus on performance and stability.

the two eariler reviewers are quite correct, flash mx 2004 is a very poor release from macromedia. performance is unacceptable, even the script editing, which is little more than a text editor, is sluggish; crashing is constant; adherence to OS human interaction guidelines is mostly ignored. the new "features" added are buggy and not implemented very well at all making them all but useless in many cases. unfortunately this is indicative of the current state of software development from macromedia (many of the complaints against flash can be lodged against dreamweaver and fireworks as well). they enjoyed their most successful year following the release of the original MX studio, which while flawed was at least usable and relatively stable. MX 2004 was very obviously pushed out by marketing/accounting far too soon and they are now reaping the rewards of their greed (macromedia missed their quarterly earnings because of the "slow uptake of studio 2004" and the stock has suffered). one can only hope that the financial sting of releasing a shoddy product will encourage them to pay attention to the little details in future releases. though the quality of the recently released 7.0.1 updater does not leave me overly confident.

Microsoft Office Multi-Language Pack 2007 Review

(More customer reviews)I think it's criminal that for the 2007 Office release Microsoft decided to bundle a tool that it had already offered individually for the past two issues, namely "Proofing Tools." So instead of paying a very reasonable and fair $40 for a 37+ language set of spelling and grammar checkers, I have to fork over $189.00 to get that plus something I really have no use for: interfaces in any of the 37 languages. Now, to give credit where credit is due, this product is absolutely amazing (albeit very niche - how many companies would really truly use this?) It is a remarkable product that is literally the best to date. So it earns the 5 stars I reluctantly give it. On the plus side, you can load this on as many machines as you want (as far as I can tell - there's no key).
